This poor guy. I wonder how long he will last.
I was actually inspired to draw this because someone bought another one of my original knife-in-the-back cartoons yesterday. This picture popped into my mind. So I drew it.
Backbiting and stabbing is so normalized that people expect it now. What about a community that actually tries to be free of this? That’s what we’re building over at davidhayward.ca. If you say,“Impossible, because there are people involved!”, then you’ve simply proved my point.
The community that is gathering there is actually a dream come true for me. There is a vast diversity of belief and non-belief, but there is a unity of purpose to love and support one another in our own unique and individual paths toward spiritual independence.
At least come check it out. I really do welcome you.
“Mark Driscoll Woman is Whore” (by nakedpastor)
I had this lined up for tomorrow morning, but some things just can’t wait.
Mark Driscoll again exposes his deep issues with women in his post about Esther. Here’s a quote:
Feminists have tried to cast Esther’s life as a tragic tale of male domination and female liberation. Many evangelicals have ignored her sexual sin and godless behavior to make her into a Daniel-like figure, which is inaccurate. Some have even tried to tie her story in with modern-day, sex-slave trafficking as she was brought before the powerful king as part of his harem. What’s the truth? We will see, as I’m still studying and praying.
It’s interesting how he easily casts her into “sexual sin and godless behavior”. But I also like how he suggests that we’ll know the truth, finally, after he finishes studying and praying. Please hurry!

I was talking with a friend the other day about the whole idea of the importance of being able to question beliefs, ideas or theologies that are passed on to us. He told me how he grew up in church and how he loved it. But one day in Sunday school, when he was about 12 years old, he asked the priest a question about what he was teaching. The priest just looked at him and said, “You just have to have faith!” My friend said that’s precisely the moment when he began to lose his faith.
Yep. That’s pretty much how it can happen.

Have you ever felt this way? Like maybe there was something seriously wrong with you? Like people really thought that maybe something had snapped inside your head? Like maybe you should see a doctor? Like maybe you’ll hopefully get better soon?
“abuse or persuasion” (by nakedpastor)
I can’t count how many times this has been used on me. And when I resisted I was called a weakling. A wimp. A spiritual pussy.
Here’s how you can generally tell the difference: when you are abused you feel like something’s wrong, but you tend to blame yourself; and when you are genuinely persuaded you feel that something just went right, and you tend to feel better about yourself.

“hate the sin” (by nakedpastor)
There are just so many problems with that idea I can’t even try to begin! For example… right off the bat homosexuality, never mind homosexual activity, is a sin.
But more than that, it attempts to draw a line between the person and his or her state of being, his or her life. It fragments the person, which is violence.
What if heterosexuality was a sin? How could one say, “We love you as a person, but we hate heterosexual behavior, and we have no respect for your orientation as a heterosexual. Even your being heterosexual is problematic.” How could you even begin to divide a person in such a way?

“draw close to God” (by nakedpastor)
This is a silly cartoon I drew some time ago that someone reminded me about yesterday. I couldn’t believe how popular it was. So I thought I would put it up again.
I hope you like the tongue-in-cheek cheesiness of it.
I’m opening my new online store. You could give it a test run for me by purchasing this cartoon!
“Todd Bentley and the UK” (by nakedpastor)
This is in reference to yesterday’s story.
Is Todd Bentley my brother? Yes! Am I his? Yes! Do I agree with him? No! Does he agree with me? Probably not, especially after this cartoon.
But I imagine he and his team might actually like the cartoon… like, “Ya! Kick that ol’ UK back to when it believed in God! It does need to be healed!” But the intent of this cartoon is slightly different, as in poking fun at his tactics, such as kicking his patients.
